Police officers from the Jelenia Góra traffic unit detained an 81-year-old Italian citizen who was wanted under a European Arrest Warrant. The foreign national is to serve a sentence of 8 years and 3 months in prison for financial fraud in Italy. He was detained on February 9. The officers went to a parking lot where a collision had occurred. While reversing a Ford Scorpio, the Italian man hit a parked vehicle. When the 81-year-old presented his identification, it turned out that he was wanted.
The man, who had been hiding from the Italian justice system for more than 15 years, was detained and then temporarily arrested. A court will decide on his extradition.
