In the evening, a fire broke out in a four-storey block of flats on Kosiby Street. Residents of the building’s top floor smelled smoke in their apartments. The smell was also noticeable around the building. Frightened residents notified the fire service.
Firefighters reached the roof of the building and located the source of the fire. The flat roof structure was burning near one of the ventilation chimneys. Fortunately, the fire, which was not visible from outside, was quickly brought under control. The firefighting operation lasted approximately 1.5 hours.
The fire was probably accidentally started by workers who were renovating the roof.

Before the fire broke out, roofing work had been carried out on the roof of the block of flats on Kosiby Street. The workers were using a propane-butane gas torch. The torch flame ignited remnants of building materials located in the flat roof structure (pieces of boards, roofing felt and mineral wool).
Firefighters dismantled part of the roof and extinguished the burning materials. The scorched elements were removed from the flat roof structure onto the roof. A construction crew, representatives of Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa Bolesławianka and the roof renovation contractor arrived at the scene of the fire.
