A Lubin police duty officer was notified about the case by an employee of a fuel station, who noticed that an unknown man had stolen winter windscreen washer fluid that had been displayed outside the building. The perpetrator, unaware that the theft had been noticed by the staff, calmly walked home. But as soon as he noticed the police officers, he began to run away, throwing away his loot. He was detained after a brief chase.

As it turned out, this was not the 24-year-old Lubin resident’s first theft of windscreen washer fluid. Far from it. He had stolen at least 33 units.

Officers are still working on the case and do not rule out further arrests. The windscreen washer fluid theft specialist faces up to five years in prison.
