The opening of the exhibition of photographs and collages by Bożena Mazurkiewicz, “To Be Different... To Stop and Notice...”, took place on Saturday, 4 October, at the Długa Gallery of Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury. The exhibition’s title perfectly reflects the artist’s creative method. “If someone is able to stop, they may notice amazing things and bring something more out of matter,” Bożena Mazurkiewicz told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal.

At the “To Be Different” exhibition, visitors can see both small-scale works—traditional photographs and collages. The leitmotif of the exhibition is nature, its extraordinariness and symbolism. One of the works refers to Paul Gauguin’s famous painting “Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?”. As the artist explains, human beings are part of nature: “We emerge from nature and return to nature. We have our beginnings in nature, live in it and are connected with it.”

In addition to photography, the artist works in sculpture, graphic art, drawing and painting. In the near future, she plans to exhibit her sculptures in Bolesławiec. The exhibition of photographs and collages can be visited until 30 October.
