The incident occurred on Monday, January 23. A resident of Legnica notified the police that a vandal had damaged his Opel, which was parked in one of the city’s parking lots. At the scene, officers from the Prevention Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters determined that the perpetrator had scratched the bodywork and smashed the car’s trunk lid with a paving stone.

The whole story began when the Opel’s owner told a group of men not to urinate under the apartment buildings. From then on, whenever one of the reprimanded men passed by with his friends, he would smilingly point at the vehicle belonging to the man who had admonished him. Several days later—while under the influence of alcohol—the same man went a step further: he scratched the Opel’s bodywork along its entire length and damaged the trunk lid.

The officers determined that the vandal was staying in one of the apartments in the city. When the officers arrived, they found that a drinking party was taking place there. The man suspected of damaging the property was arrested within an hour of the incident. He was taken to a sobering-up facility, and the following day he was charged.

The suspect admitted his guilt. The 50-year-old vandal now faces up to five years in prison.
