Throughout the year, there is no better moment to stand up more strongly than usual for respect for the rights of the youngest and recognition of their status as individuals. It is a day when the words of Janusz Korczak take on exceptional significance: “There are no children – there are people …”. “Our rights – an important matter” was the slogan under which the school held celebrations of the “National Children’s Rights Day” in November 2016. This day was an excellent opportunity to undertake various initiatives related not only to children’s rights, but also to their needs and problems. On this exceptional day, the children spoke, and the adults listened to their voice. The celebrations were organised by the Student Council and its supervisors, Adrian Banyś and Agnieszka Markowicz, together with the form teachers and pupils of Years I–VI.
The aim of the “National Children’s Rights Day” celebrations was to shape the school community through education about children’s rights, while making pupils aware that they have rights of their own and should know how to exercise them. The pupils were introduced to the basic issues covered by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and encouraged to create their own artwork, which helped reinforce awareness of these rights among the children.
We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to the entire school community—pupils, teachers and parents—for their involvement in the celebrations of the “2016 National Children’s Rights Day”. Thank you.
Student Council and supervisors: Adrian Banyś, Agnieszka Markowicz, the school management, teaching staff and the entire pupil community of Primary School No. 3.
