Chojnów police officers received information that various types of explosive materials might be located in one of the apartments in a multi-unit building in Chojnów. The officers’ suspicions proved correct.

On January 3, officers from the Chojnów Police Station, together with police officers from the Department for Combating Crimes Against Life and Health of the Legnica city police headquarters and officers from the Mining and Pyrotechnic Team of the SPAP of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, secured nearly 4 kg of explosive substance and two battery-powered detonators.

Due to the high probability that the substances could explode, nearly 30 residents were evacuated from the building. The 43-year-old owner of the arsenal was detained and placed in police custody. Then, at the request of the Legnica police and prosecutor’s office, the court ordered three months of pretrial detention for the suspect. The man faces up to eight years in prison.
