At the beginning of December last year, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec received information about a robbery at one of the gaming arcades in Zgorzelec County. The report was filed by a 28-year-old resident of Zgorzelec, an employee of the company.
As the police analyzed all the details, they began to doubt whether the 28-year-old’s account was true. It turned out that the person who reported it had made up the story about the robbery together with his 39-year-old friend. They did so to avoid responsibility for stealing money. No robbery had taken place.
The officers determined that the 28- and 39-year-olds had planned the entire scenario. When there was no one else left on the premises, they put their plan into action. To make everything look realistic, the 39-year-old tied his accomplice to a chair, stole money from the cash box and drilled through the security features of the gaming machines, taking the coins from them. The suspects stole at least PLN 7,000. Both thieves could spend up to 10 years behind bars.
