The incident occurred on Thursday, December 29, in Lubin. Officers from the Independent Prevention Police Unit in Legnica decided to stop a passenger car for inspection. The man did not respond to the officers’ signals. On the contrary, he accelerated and began to flee. He drove at very high speed, ignoring road signs and traffic lights. To avoid a collision with the road pirate, other drivers escaped onto the pavement.
Traffic police joined the pursuit. On national road No. 3 toward Polkowice, the fleeing man was blocked and detained by Lubin police officers. The car was driven by a 32-year-old man from Lubin. It soon also became clear what had caused the detainee’s behavior. By decision of the Lubin County governor, the 32-year-old had had his driving privileges revoked. What is more, by decision of the District Court in Lubin, he was supposed to be sent to pre-trial detention in Wrocław.
The detained man now faces up to two years in prison.
