The meeting was organized by: Aneta Antczak, Sylwia Czernatowicz and Paweł Domzalski. The first-year hotel-management technical-school class took part in the meeting with the writer. Grażyna Hanaf told the students how the novel came into being and what had inspired her while writing it. She also led a discussion about tolerance, expressing emotions and accepting oneself. At the end, the students thanked the writer for an interesting presentation and discussion.
Grażyna Hanaf was born in Bolesławiec and graduated in art history from the University of Wrocław. She works as a journalist and an international tour leader. She is the author of guidebooks to Morocco and Provence (ExpressMap), the novels Joachim and Joachim Zemsta, as well as therapeutic stories for children: Garbuska and Dziewczynka-skrzynka. In 2017, the istotne.pl publishing house will release her next story, Zaginieni rodzice.
ZSOiZ Library with a certificate
Thanks to the efforts of teacher-librarians Sylwia Czernatowicz, Aneta Antczak and Paweł Domzalski, the library was awarded the School Caring About Reading certificate. Among other things, it confirms that the library is welcoming to every reader and that its priority is to instill a passion for reading in students.
The certificate is the result of numerous activities undertaken by the School Library in 2016 and the implementation of the adopted objectives. All of the library’s planned activities were subordinated to the following general goals:
- increasing students’ and teachers’ interest in the school library’s collections
- promoting reading and developing reading skills
- involving students and parents in reading initiatives
- supporting teachers in their educational and care-related work
- developing the habit of actively participating in library projects
- shaping an attitude of respect for Poland’s cultural, historical and regional heritage
To achieve these goals, we create and use every opportunity: lessons, school projects, trips to the cinema and theatre, extracurricular activities, development support, cultivating talents and passions, and numerous reading, literary and photography competitions. We attach great importance to cooperation with parents and the local community. Our experience so far convinces us that the Parents’ Council and institutions and agencies operating in our surroundings help us achieve our objectives: the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre, Teatr Stary, the Museum of Ceramics, Bolesławiec bookshops, as well as departments of the Bolesławiec County Office supporting our School Library, for which we are especially grateful.
