Both suspects were caught red-handed by officers from the Legnica traffic police. The thieves were transporting almost a tonne of scrap metal in a van. It turned out that the men had robbed an entrepreneur who had hired them to dismantle a hall located in Legnica. What is more, this was already the scrap dealers’ second such trip. In total, they stole nearly two tonnes of scrap metal.
The younger suspect was taken into police custody. The older man was released to go home after the necessary procedures, due to his health. The owner of the steel components valued the losses at more than PLN 6,000. Officers recovered the stolen property.
Both the 50- and 46-year-old men now face up to five years behind bars.
