The statistics speak for themselves – 23 volunteers, more than 60 families visited, 33 of them included in the project, the total value of the aid provided – nearly PLN 83,000, the average value of a package – PLN 2,500, and the total number of people preparing packages – 3,465. In short, this is how the third edition of the Noble Gift Package in Bolesławiec can be summed up. It culminated in a two-day finale held last weekend.
From Saturday morning, the festively decorated warehouse, which, as last year, was located in the parish hall at the Church of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on Elizy Orzeszkowej Street, was bustling with activity. Volunteers welcomed donors who delivered the packages they had prepared. After the parcels were brought into the warehouse, there was also time for conversation over tea and cake. The volunteers then delivered the packages to families in need and accompanied their members as they opened them. There were tears of happiness and emotion. Hearing about that moment is the only reward the donors receive, but it is absolutely priceless.
Leader of the Bolesławiec District Agnieszka Baszczyj:
I would like to sincerely thank my volunteers and helpers for their time and energy, the donors for their big hearts and for preparing wonderful packages, the families for their trust and openness, the parish of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ and Father Andrzej Gidziński for making the hall available as a warehouse, the drivers for their help transporting the packages, the Occupational Therapy Workshops for preparing gifts for the donors, the photographers for documenting the finale and the march marking the opening of the families’ database, the media for promoting the project, and Lendo printing house for printing the advertising banners.
And she adds: “See you next year!”
