Our editorial office received a letter from a Bolesławiec resident, addressed to the Monitoring Office. It reads:
What is going on? Five years ago, someone broke into my car [...]. When the alarm went off, I went outside and heard the burglars talking behind the garages. After some time, they abandoned the break-in and headed toward other cars, but they noticed me and left [...].
I called the police station, and after some time the police arrived, so I explained to them that there had been two burglars. I told them what they had been wearing [...]. The police went in the direction I indicated, while I went home.
After some time, the police arrived at my place of residence with the detainees, so that I could identify whether they were the ones (that is how identification procedures are handled). They took all of us together to the police station.
The reader adds: “It is only just beginning. In April 2014, they punctured two of my tires with a knife, cutting through the sidewall. TIRES TO BE THROWN AWAY”.
What is more, in November last year someone punctured another four tires belonging to the Bolesławiec resident. In the spring, the man fitted new ones. In November this year, unknown perpetrators once again punctured four tires on the man's car (that makes 10 tires in total). As the reader reports, the aforementioned burglars are currently in prison. “They are behind bars, and the orders are coming from behind bars,” the victim states in his letter. He adds regretfully: “Who is in charge here? Burglars behind bars or the police together with the monitoring system?”.
We managed to establish that the man reported both the November 2015 incident and the one from the previous month to the police. Unfortunately, it was not possible to apprehend the perpetrators. The police did not address the victim's suggestion that this was revenge from behind bars. “There is no evidence of that,” we were told.
