In an email to the editorial office, the Reader wrote: “Is it possible to take up the topic of the ‘bridge’ on Mostowa Street? It is in a deplorable condition; another pothole is appearing in the roadway.” The issue returned during the November session of the Bolesławiec City Council. Mayor Piotr Roman, responding to an interpellation by Forum councillor Łukasz Jaźwiec, concerning the county roads Ogrodowa and Polna, said: “We have earmarked PLN 200,000 in next year’s draft budget for projects carried out jointly with the County; another PLN 200,000 is to be reserved in the County’s budget. For the County, Mostowa Street is the priority, particularly the bridge. Mr Tomasz Gabrysiak told me that this project is expected to cost around PLN 2 million, so it cannot be managed with PLN 400,000.”

“The project’s value may still change,” Tomasz Gabrysiak, deputy Bolesławiec county governor since November, told istotne.pl. He stressed that the local government is not giving up: “We have several ideas. We want to submit applications to several funding sources so that the County’s financial contribution to this investment is as small as possible.”

What is more, the project was included in the Revitalization Program implemented by the Bolesławiec Municipal Commune. It was entered there by… Tomasz Gabrysiak, then head of the Department of City Development and Promotion at Bolesławiec City Hall.

The road renovation on Mostowa Street is expected to cost PLN 600,000; renovating the bridge will be much more expensive. The deputy county governor hopes that the documentation-related matters will be settled within a month. “First, there must be a cost estimate,” he adds. “This needs to be done once and done properly. And put an end to the issue of the bridge on Mostowa Street.”
