Christmas Fair
This year, for the first time, a Christmas Fair will be held in Bolesławiec Market Square. From 15 to 22 December, between 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., you can visit more than 20 stalls offering Christmas products, including cold meats, Christmas baked goods, gingerbread, Christmas decorations, baubles, roasted chestnuts, honey, mead, mulled wine, mulled beer with spices, cheeses, Hungarian chimney cakes and jewellery. The youngest visitors will also find attractions in the so-called green square: a carousel and a little train. As usual, there will be a nativity scene with live animals, which has attracted enormous interest from both children and adults for years. The nativity scene can be visited for two days, on 16 and 17 December. At the same time, a fair will be held by the Czerna Rural Housewives’ Circle and the Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends, offering delicious traditional Christmas dishes, tasty cakes and beautiful Christmas decorations.
Preschoolers’ Parade
The festive gathering on 16 December in the Market Square will begin with the Parade of Santa’s Helpers, which will proceed from Piłsudski Square to the Market Square. The colourful procession will include children from Bolesławiec preschools: Municipal Public Preschools Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, as well as the non-public preschools Nibylandia, Zielona Nibylandia, Oxpress, Jacek i Agatka, Smerfiki and Bajka, together with the “Bolesławiec” Municipal Brass Band. The young helpers of Santa Claus will offer their good wishes to everyone present and perform an artistic programme.
Christmas Concert
The following performers will appear at the Christmas Concert on the stage set up in the Market Square: the “Bolesławiec” Song and Dance Ensemble, the BOK-MCC vocal studio, the “Bolesławiec” Municipal Brass Band, the choir of the Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends, the “Kresowianie” Ensemble operating at the Society of Friends of Lviv and the Southeastern Borderlands, and the “Jutrzenka” Municipal Song and Dance Ensemble. On this day, Santa Claus will read fairy tales as part of the “All of Poland Reads to Children” campaign. An exhibition of competition nativity scenes made, among others, by children and young people from Bolesławiec schools and preschools will also be presented, and there will be a one-hour aerobics marathon.
Motorcycle Santas
Motorcycle Santas will arrive in the city centre at 5:00 p.m. (weather permitting). We invite all owners of these machines to join our event. Please send registrations by 14 December to Dariusz Uściński of BOK-MCC, tel. 75 644 55 93, e-mail: darek@bok.boleslawiec.pl. Santa costumes will be provided for participants! Additionally, the foyer of Forum Cinema will host the Annual Integration Fair of Works by People with Disabilities, created by residents of local centres. We warmly invite you to attend.
Good Wishes and the Christmas Wafer
As usual, the event will include a Christmas gathering of residents with the Mayor of the City—the Bolesławiec Star of Kindness. It will be a time to exchange good wishes and share the Christmas wafer. Scouts from the Bolesławiec ZHP Scout District named after the Grey Ranks will pass on the Bethlehem Light, and the Holy Family will arrive in the Market Square. In the meantime, the competition for the most beautiful nativity scene, held under the patronage of the Mayor of the City, will be decided. There will also be a Community Christmas Eve Supper for residents—we already invite everyone to enjoy hot beetroot soup, pierogi and other traditional dishes prepared by Bolesławiec companies and institutions.
A few days earlier, on 13 December at 11:00 a.m., Municipal Public Preschool No. 7 with integration classes will perform a nativity play in the BOK-MCC Forum Hall.
The organisers of the Bolesławiec Star of Kindness are: the Municipality of Bolesławiec, the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre—International Ceramics Centre, the Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends, 62 KS Commando, the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Bolesławiec, the Polish Red Cross, the Bolesławiec ZHP Scout District named after the Grey Ranks, the Society of Friends of Lviv and the Southeastern Borderlands, and the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre.
