Officers from Police Station II in Jelenia Góra arrested three men, aged 19 to 40, suspected of a series of thefts and burglaries. The oldest of those arrested will also face charges of forcing the others to commit crimes and making criminal threats.
The officers established that between January and November, the men committed at least 19 property-related crimes in Jelenia Góra, Piechowice, Karpacz and the surrounding areas. They broke into and robbed apartments, houses, outbuildings, garages and cars. They took advantage of the owners’ absence or inattention. The thieves stole power tools, electronic equipment, silver tableware and other valuable items. The victims’ losses amount to tens of thousands of zlotys.
It was also established that the 19- and 26-year-old men did the dirty work. The third man arrested was their boss and forced them to commit burglaries and thefts. The trio were caught when one of its members was stopped for a traffic check. Police officers found some items from the burglaries in the car.
Police are now investigating all the circumstances of the case in detail. The residents of Jelenia Góra may face up to 10 years in prison for the thefts and burglaries. All three have already been placed in temporary custody for three months.
