The announcements by Law and Justice politicians that they would boycott the Bolesławiec ceremony have been confirmed. We wrote about it yesterday in the article Law and Justice will boycott unveiling of Smolensk plaque. No one from Law and Justice officially appeared at the ceremony in our city.

– It is sad that some element of politics has entered into this – comments on the ruling party’s behavior Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska, a former MP and wife of Jerzy Szmajdziński, who died in the plane crash near Smolensk.

– I am not commenting on this situation; it is exclusively a matter for representatives of Law and Justice – says diplomatically Eugeniusz Jabłoński, a Bolesławiec city councilor and the plaque’s initiator.

Let us explain: Law and Justice politicians took offense and did not attend the ceremony because their objection to the plaque’s location was reportedly not taken into account. They were supposedly bothered by two things: a bus shelter standing nearby and the street’s namesake, Bolesław Kubik, Bolesławiec’s postwar mayor.

In our opinion, Law and Justice politicians were angry because they—not someone else—did not come up with the idea of funding the Smolensk plaque, and, in addition, they were recently left out of the new coalition being formed in Bolesławiec County.
