The competition is currently held in five categories: the most beautifully flower-decorated window, the most beautifully flower-decorated balcony, the most beautifully flower-decorated garden in a multi-family residential area, the most beautifully flower-decorated garden at public-use facilities, and the most beautifully flower-decorated family allotment garden in Bolesławiec.
The competition includes flower-decorated windows, balconies and gardens submitted by residents, as well as places selected by the competition committee as deserving notice and recognition.
The 2016 “Bolesławiec in Bloom” competition committee consisted of: Mirosław Sołtyszewski – committee chair (Bolesławiec City Councilor, member of the Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Construction Committee); Zdzisław Mirecki (vice-president of the Bolesławiec Lovers’ Society); Małgorzata Rychert (inspector in the Operations and Municipal Services Department of the Municipal Housing Management Establishment in Bolesławiec); Katarzyna Graczyk (manager of the Municipal Ecological Education Centre). The committee summarized the results of two inspections, conducted on 23 June 2016 and 11 August 2016, of the flower-decorated windows, balconies, gardens in multi-family residential areas and gardens at public-use facilities entered in the competition. The Polish Allotment Garden Association Presidents’ Council in Bolesławiec submitted the results protocol for the “Most Beautiful Family Allotment Garden” category.

The competition prizes are vouchers for the “Mrówka” store in Bolesławiec, worth a total of PLN 10,000 (the vouchers are valid until 31 May 2017), funded from the city budget. All competition participants received certificates and DVDs containing photographic documentation prepared during the “Bolesławiec in Bloom” competition.
