– We are practically the only place along the Jelenia Góra–Zgorzelec route without sidewalks – says “ii” Dariusz Penkala of the Nasz Chmieleń Association (Lwówek County, Lubomierz municipality). – All our letters have gone unanswered; there has been no result whatsoever. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways replied that there had been no fatal accidents or pedestrian collisions on this section for some time, so a sidewalk would not be needed for now. This is a strange position: are we supposed to sacrifice one of our residents for sidewalks to be built?! That is why we decided to hold a protest on National Road 30.
The protest will take place on Saturday, November 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and will involve blocking the pedestrian crossing on National Road 30 in Chmieleń. During the protest, participants will collect signatures for a petition calling for the construction of pedestrian sidewalks. Drivers should expect traffic disruptions there that day.
