Participants had pumpkins of various shapes, colours and sizes at their disposal. They used them to create whatever their imaginations suggested. Small works of art were made from the popular vegetable.
Some participants used a design they had prepared earlier on paper. The others immediately drew eyes, a nose and a mouth on the pumpkin’s skin. Next, they drew a large opening around the stem, through which the seeds and flesh could be removed after cutting it out. They cleaned the severed top and left it to cover the lantern, while carefully cutting out the drawn patterns.
Guardians helped the youngest participants with work involving a knife; the children managed the other activities themselves. Everyone could take their finished lantern home.
The BOK-MCC instructors Edyta Orlińska, Dorota Dziedzic – Lechowska and Katarzyna Zarówny supervised the workshop. We received all the pumpkins for the workshop thanks to the kindness of Grażyna and Bogdan Mosiądz from the Specialist Agricultural Farm in Różyniec.
