Zgorzelec traffic police officers stopped a 62-year-old man driving a delivery van for a roadside check in Strzelno. It turned out that the driver did not have his driving licence or vehicle registration certificate with him. The officers informed him that he would be fined.
The 62-year-old then told the officers that he had lost his driving licence approximately 7 years ago and was banned from driving cars, so it would be better if they did not check him in the police database. He added that the matter could be settled another way. He would pay them PLN 100 and continue on his way. The officers informed the driver that he was committing a crime. But this did not discourage him. He took PLN 100 from his wallet and placed it on the police notebook. He was arrested. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
