"Glos Bolesławca" is already three years old. We hope that it has become a permanent part of the cityscape and fulfills an important informational role. Instead of a commemorative tribute, we present to our Readers the Editorial Board: people who write for you out of heartfelt impulse and creative passion, without journalistic fees. Co-creators of the local community, our "small homeland".
We are the ones who edit your newspaper.
Editor-in-Chief – PAWEŁ ŚLIWKO.
A biographical profile was published in the December (1994) issue of "GŁOSU BOLESŁAWCA". In January, the Editorial Board unanimously elected me—something I greatly value—as head of the team and Vice-President of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Bolesławca. A few days earlier, I had become Press Spokesperson for the Municipal Management Board (a civic, honorary position—with no financial remuneration). I borrowed my credo from a quotation by a French writer:
"Human life is not a small candle stub, but rather a kind of magnificent torch, which must be kindled through one's own existence, as fully as possible, before it is passed on in the endless relay of generations"... And one more piece of Eastern wisdom: "When you have two paths in life: one gray and safe, and the other on which you will burn with a bright and great flame—choose the latter..."
Editorial Secretary: JANINA PIETRZAK.
A civic position; on a daily basis, Head of the Office of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Bolesławca, work coordinator, accountant and archivist, as well as liaison with the writers, all in one person. A versatile copy editor, critic, reviewer, proofreader and organizer of every activity, initiator of civic campaigns, a person of great heart, passion and kindness, without whom the newspaper would be poorer in local color, less interesting and farther removed from the brisk rhythm of community life. She manages the TMB's work tactfully and consistently, without trying to lead the orchestra. Strengths: professionalism, experience, knowledge and kindness toward people.

Interests, passions, specialization in "Głos," previous journalistic experience, life credo. Apart from my professional work, which I try to perform conscientiously and reliably, I have directed my civic work in my place of residence and professional environment toward activities in various apolitical organizations. Since 1971, I have been a ZHP instructor; I donate blood voluntarily, and nature conservation matters to me. For several years I have collected business cards of well-known people (I have several thousand). I correspond with police officers from nearly all over the world as part of the International Police Association (IPA), of which I am a member. In "Głos," I publish various historical curiosities from the city's past. I try to create an atmosphere around publishing the newspaper. My life credo is reflected in the motto that is the IPA's maxim. In Esperanto it reads: "SLRVO PER AMIKECO," meaning: "To serve through friendship." In addition, my articles have appeared in other local and regional periodicals ("Kurier Lwówecki," "Kurier Gryfowski," "Sami Swoi," "Karkonosze," "Gazeta Ziemi Lwóweckiej").
JERZY KOSOWSKI.
Married, two sons, secondary technical education.
Connections with the city and TMB: I was born in 1953, studied and worked here, and am now on a disability pension—all of this took place in Bolesławiec. I like our city very much. I first encountered TMB through contacts with "Głos."
Interests, passions, specialization in "Głos," previous journalistic experience and life credo. From early childhood I was interested in sport—initially as an athlete, later as a fan—and this led to my first journalistic attempts, writing about sport. "Głos" without sport would be an incomplete voice of the city. I like new challenges and treat my work at the Editorial Office in that way. Another—also very important—hobby is books on various subjects. In my free time, reading fills the ordinary routine of life. And my life motto is: "It is nice to be important, but more important to be nice," and to know how to enjoy the moment.
ADELA KURASZ.
