According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of a Fiat Tipo hit the boy at or near the pedestrian crossing. The boy, with visible head and arm injuries, was taken to hospital by ambulance. The braking distance is visible before and on the crossing. It is several metres long. Police at the scene are determining the cause of the incident.
Although there had been an accident and police officers were at the scene, children continued to run across the street or step onto the roadway.
