At the invitation of the Polish Section of the International Police Association (IPA – International Police Association), a police choir from DETMOLD (Germany) was visiting Poland. The tourist program in our province was prepared, at the request of Deputy Mayor Alicja Młodzikowska, by Senior Commissioner Zdzisław Mirecki, who, as a resident of Bolesławiec (professionally working in Lwówek Śl.), also included a visit to our town.
German police officers and their spouses visited, among other places, the town center in Bolesławiec, the Museum of Ceramics, and the “Ceramika Artystyczna” Cooperative, combined with the purchase of stamped ceramics. They were also guests at the State Music School, First Degree, where they were shown around by its director, Dorota Pińczuk, MA. At the end of their stay by the Bóbr River, the choir performed at 4 p.m. at the Old Theatre. Approximately 350 people—mostly secondary-school students—listened to the one-hour concert, filling 95% of the venue. The entire performance was recorded by Telewizja Lokalna Bolesławiec, which was to rebroadcast it at a later date for a wider audience.
The concert was efficiently organized by Dorota Pińczuk, MA. This artistic event could not be held at the “Forum” cinema-theatre because the director of the Bolesławiec Cultural Center firmly refused to organize it.
The choir, consisting of 33 serving and retired police officers, presented a broad repertoire and received “thunderous applause” for its successful concert, just as it did the following day in Świeradów-Zdrój. The police choir is conducted by Martim Krueger, and its chairman is Horst Wissmann. The choir was founded in 1952 during an official meeting of the criminal police, at which it was decided that they would not only meet for professional reasons but also to sing. With its extensive repertoire, it has performed in all the major German cities as well as in Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, England, Italy and the USA. This was its second visit to Poland. The first was in 1992, when it performed at the Zasieki–Forst border crossing after being invited by the organizers of a cross-border meeting. It also performed in Zielona Góra. It has released three long-playing records, a cassette and a compact disc.
The photograph shows the police choir from Detmold receiving congratulations after the concert from Dorota Pińczuk, MA, and Senior Commissioner Zdzisław Mirecki.
