At the invitation of the Pirna Friendship Committee from Bolesławiec, a delegation of the Bolesławiec Enthusiasts’ Association, consisting of Zdzisław MIRECKI, MA and Zbigniew SAMONEK, MA, travelled to this town of 40,000 inhabitants on the Elbe, located 155 km away. The purpose of the visit was to expand and deepen contacts between the twinned cities, as well as to learn about Pirna and its surroundings.
The interesting programme for the stay on 29 and 30 September this year was prepared by the chairman of the Committee, Peter Richter, and included, among other things, a tour and an introduction to the workshops of the Youth Cultural Centre and the School of Music. A meeting was held at the editorial office of the district newspaper "Saechsschc-Pirnaer Zaitung", which published an informational article that day about the role of our Association and the purpose of the visit. The modernly equipped editorial office, employing four people, would be interested in publishing information about Bolesławiec, including reprints from our "Głos" on historical, tourism, sports, cultural and partnership-cooperation topics. They were interested in our events: "Blues nad Bobrem", the Ceramic Fair and the "Days of Bolesławiec". Three other newspapers are published in Pirna: the private "Pirnaer Anzeiger", the official district paper "Landkreis Bote-Amtsblatt" and the regional "Pirnaer Rundschau". Bolesławiec has an advantage in that we have "our own" television studio.
The TMB delegation was invited to lunch at the "Under the Black Eagle" hotel restaurant by Hans – Peter Bohrig, the newly elected mayor, chosen in a direct election for a seven-year term. The city council was elected for a five-year term. The conversation with the mayor went so well that the meeting, planned for one hour, lasted three. The mayor was very interested in our city and liked the souvenirs he received, including publications by our Association. As a result of reorganization this year, Pirna District merged with another district, Sebnitz, creating a district called "Saechsische Schweiz". During their stay, the TMB delegation toured the city, where extensive reconstruction was noticeable, and part of Saxon Switzerland, including the castle in Stolpen. It is worth visiting this area even for just one day. In addition to the friendly atmosphere, the visit was accompanied by beautiful autumn weather. Translation was provided by two ladies: Anna SCHATTSCHNEIDER and Maria KOLANKO.

From the editorial office: In the near future, proposals for cooperation will be presented to some schools and institutions.
