We, young people attending school, have two physical education lessons a week. It is difficult to burn off all the energy accumulated throughout the week in two hours. Well, but surely we have a stadium in Bolesławiec. What am I writing!? There are even two sports grounds in the town, both a picture of misery and despair. One of the physical education teachers stated that “it is embarrassing to invite guests to such playing fields.” What about a playing field! You can go to the swimming pool. Our pre-war swimming pool, the size of a large bathtub, has a makeshift-patched bottom, although the water escapes anyway. I do not even dare mention how often the water is changed! But if someone is dissatisfied, they have to wait until summer. Then they can go to the outdoor pools, and there are even three to choose from!!! However, there is no real choice, because each of them is in a similar technical condition. Cracked everywhere possible, they leak so badly that they have to be constantly topped up with water—cold, of course, from a deep well, because naturally there is no money for hot water.
The young people of Bolesławiec understand this perfectly well, so they go swimming at a nearby excavation site, above which a high-voltage power line runs. So what? It does not matter that it may be dangerous. We have a lovely showcase of how well one can relax by the water.
It does not matter what is inside; what matters is that THOSE FROM OUTSIDE see us looking good, RIGHT?
