Through the efforts of the Municipal Office, the OFFICIAL MUNICIPAL GUIDEBOOK of Bolesławiec was published by a publishing house based in Bydgoszcz. The attractive coated paper, color photographs and advertisements, as well as the professional quality of the publication, make a very good impression. Given the small number of publications of this kind in Bolesławiec, it is another important “building block” of knowledge about the city.
It will serve tourists visiting our city, as President Król writes in his foreword. There are several printing errors in the photo captions; in the future, one could consider changing the order of the texts or expanding them, but after all, those who do nothing make no mistakes. The texts have been translated into German with German tourists in mind, which increases the guidebook’s informational value.
And one final comment. Since the translator’s name is included, in accordance with publishing practice, the names of the authors of the texts who contributed to its preparation should also have been included. I believe this, too, can be rectified in future editions.
From the editorial team:
Incidentally, one of the readers asked why this guidebook was described with the adjective “official.” Is there some other, unofficial municipal guidebook?
