Bolesławiec police officers detained a 42-year-old resident of Bolesławiec who defrauded people through online auctions. The man carried out his scheme from 2005 to May 2008. He created an account on one of the auction websites without providing his personal details. He registered the business in the name of an acquaintance—without her knowledge or consent. In this way, he avoided both fees for the transactions (which were charged to the account of the unsuspecting woman) and the problems associated with potential complaints.
According to police estimates, the 42-year-old carried out transactions worth at least several tens of thousands of zlotys and defrauded many people. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
