On May 11, a 24-year-old man with a broken arm reported to a hospital in Bolesławiec. He claimed that he had sustained his injuries in a road accident. When a police patrol arrived at the scene, the injured man told the officers that he had been hit by a car. The man even provided the make and the initial registration numbers of the vehicle.

The police concluded that such an incident could not have occurred. They established that the man had been riding a moped while drunk, fell over and broke his arm. The 24-year-old admitted that he had lied to the officers out of fear of the consequences. A test showed that he had almost one per mille of alcohol in his system.

For driving a vehicle while intoxicated, he faces up to two years in prison.
