The trio consists of guitarist and band leader Stanisław Sroka, bassist Andrzej Rusek and drummer Łukasz Kurek. Sroka is a graduate of the Jazz and Popular Music Department of the Academy of Music in Katowice. The bassist is self-taught, while the drummer is still studying at the Academy of Music in Katowice.

Although the group has existed only recently, all the musicians already have extensive stage experience. The trio members are open to various musical styles. They collaborate with bands that play blues, country, gospel, pop, funk, soul and more. The diversity of influences and inspirations can be heard on the band’s first album, “Heart Attack”, released in October 2007. The album was warmly received by the jazz community in both Poland and Germany. Enthusiastic reviews of the album resulted in several performances abroad.

On Tuesday, 8 April, Stanisław Sroka Trio will play at the Pegaz club of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre. The ticket price is PLN 10. For readers of the Boleslawiec.org / IstotneInformacje.pl portal, we have two pairs of invitations to this event. They will go to the first two people who, using the contact form, answer the question: in which free-jazz group did bassist Andrzej Rusek take his first professional steps?

The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. Boleslawiec.org / IstotneInformacje.pl is the event’s media patron.

Update: 2008-04-05 10:35

The contest has been decided. The pairs of invitations will go to Mariusz and Hubert. The correct answer to the question is: Pick Up Formation.
