The young musicians performed works by Berlioz, Vaňhal, Respighi, Lukáš, Bizet, Shchedrin, Lalo and Gounod. The repertoire was well chosen—the audience clearly did not become bored during the performance, which lasted more than an hour and a half.

The soloists who performed during the concert were Martin Goldstein (Czech Republic), Radovan Skalický (Czech Republic), Marta Wasilewicz (Poland) and Leon Szostakowski (Germany).

The Europera Youth Orchestra has existed for 12 years. It comprises almost 90 children and young people from the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. In its current formation, the orchestra has received much recognition and praise for its performances in the Tri-Border Region on the occasion of ceremonies marking these countries’ accession to the European Union. The orchestra’s conductor and artistic director is Miloš Krejčí.

Letter from the Music School

The concert was organised by the State Music School, first level, and the Music School, second level, in Bolesławiec. Our town was represented by 14 students: Paulina Ćwik—concertmaster, Sylwia Popławska, Klementyna Marszałek, Daria Borek, Katarzyna Wasylkowska, Karolina Rękal, Ewa Kut, Kasia Kut, Marta Małolepsza, Ola Franczyk, Julia Niewar, Piotr Wolański and Mateusz Pińczuk.

The soloist from our school was Marta Wasilewicz, a student in Janusz Bącal’s violin class. Marta gave a beautiful musical performance of the first movement of E. Lalo’s “Symphonie espagnole”.

The young musicians prepared a varied repertoire during their week-long stay in Liberec. Rehearsals lasted approximately eight hours each day. The concerts then took place in Liberec, Zittau and Kliczków. The young people returned from the training camp tired but very happy, enriched by numerous musical, cultural and social experiences. Organising an event of international stature involves enormous responsibility, while also bringing great satisfaction. I am still full of impressions after the concert. I congratulate the very young performers on their highly successful performance and wish them further success.
