The Orange Alternative was a movement that emerged in the early 1980s among students in Wrocław. The movement’s leader is Waldemar “Major” Fydrych. Members of the Orange Alternative organized, among other things, street happenings and demonstrations. They created graffiti. Wherever the communist-era militia painted over anti-communist slogans, the artists painted dwarfs. The dwarf figure became the very symbol of the Orange Alternative.
