Initially, the music workshops were organized by the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre. After four years, Krystyna Juszkiewicz took them over privately. She ran them for nine years.
The new organizer, the State Music School in Bolesławiec, will focus on making intensive use of music educators. The workshop program is expected to include ear-training classes and the basics of jazz.
“We are facing the task of working from the ground up. The point is for young people to acquire as many skills as possible. It is important for things to improve, but not necessarily become more expensive. Ms Juszkiewicz will help us; she will be the event’s guiding spirit,” says Dorota Pińczuk, director of the State Music School.
“Blues nad Bobrem” has been associated with Bolesławiec for 15 years. The final concerts have featured, among others, Tadeusz Nalepa, Dżem, Nocna Zmiana Bluesa, Gang Olsena and Martyna Jakubowicz. However, the concert has attracted less and less interest each year. It is no longer an event of national importance.
The workshops present the opposite picture. They are known throughout the country and enjoy a good reputation. Every year, the classes are accompanied by the Review of Blues Bands, a blues mass and club concerts.
