Estep has been involved in music for many years. From 1988 to 2002, he was the lyricist and vocalist of the band Gang Olsena. With the band, he released three albums: “Go!” (1992), “Dzika wolność” (1994), and “Raycowny Rhythm & Blues” (2000). Since 2002, he has been the lyricist and vocalist of the band Obstawa Prezydenta, with which he recorded three albums: “Zawsze w stronę bluesa” (2005), “O nic mnie nie pytaj” (2009), which received a nomination for the 2010 Fryderyki, and “Siedem” (2012). With these bands, he performed at Poland’s largest music festivals. He collaborated with Katarzyna Gaertner, Karin Stanek, and the bands Ścigani, Highway, and Syndykat.

Estep’s solo debut album is a personal statement about feelings and the problems of today’s world. The lyrics are characterized by a strong emotional charge which, combined with the melodic quality of the songs, is the source of their strength.

The album’s original sound is the result of combining a jazz rhythm section with a rock-blues-soul musical aesthetic. Nine guitarists took part in the recordings. The idea was for each of them to play on a different track, giving each song an individual guitar sound.

Estep on the single and music video “In the Mirror of the World”:

“In the Mirror of the World” is a song about the world around me. The lyrics describe my subjective, inner fears about what is happening and how I perceive it. The music video for “Mirror of the World” (the sixth track from the album “I Made It All Up”) was filmed in Katowice by Zbyszka Janowskiego. It shows an urban space where time passes at a frantic pace. Yet, amid the noise and rush, I cannot escape the conviction that the world will never change and that I have no influence over it... In truth, none of this depends on us.

The song was recorded by:

Alan Wykpisz – double bass
Tymoteusz Papior – drums
Sławomir Hetman Sobieski – acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele
