We are publicizing the matter at the request of our reader, who wrote that she had noticed that parking spaces are very often unavailable in front of the Bolesławiec ZUS inspectorate. There is a very simple reason for this: both employees and the inspectorate’s management park their cars there. What is more, as the reader writes, “what proved particularly outrageous, however, was that ZUS managers park in spaces designated for people with disabilities. Please raise this issue, because if ZUS managers have such an attitude toward their customers, then something is wrong”.

Aneta Karaban, head of the Bolesławiec inspectorate, referred us to the Legnica branch of the institution. We managed to contact its head, Elżbieta Kanus. In an email to the Boleslawiec.org editorial office, Kanus wrote: “Regarding the lack of parking spaces at the ZUS Inspectorate in Bolesławiec, we confirm that the parking lot is too small and not adapted to today’s realities. When the Inspectorate was established, the size of the parking lot was adequate for the number of people traveling by car [...]. The institution is currently making efforts to expand the parking lot, and we hope that the issue of increasing the number of parking spaces will be resolved in the near future”.

The head of the Legnica branch also addressed the issue of unethical parking in a space for people with disabilities: “At the same time, regarding the occupation of spaces designated for people with disabilities by unauthorized individuals, I inform you that this happens sporadically and lasts from several to a dozen or so minutes. We also point out that despite the small number of parking spaces, the two spaces designated for authorized persons are never both blocked”.

At the end, Elżbieta Kanus noted: “We apologize to all concerned for the situation and at the same time assure you that we will make every effort to ensure that a similar situation does not occur in the future”.
