The renovation of the Old Town is to be based on European Union funds. In order to use them, a revitalization program must be created in addition to studies and technical plans. This is an essential requirement. “We are in the process of preparing the renovation program. The first steps can be expected next year,” says the city’s deputy mayor, Karol Stasik.
Officials want to renovate the heart of the city first. Paving stones are to be laid on the roads in the Market Square and its vicinity. After the Old Town has been renovated, it will be time for the other parts of the city. “We are thinking about something like a program supporting communities that decide to renovate their façades. The city could support such initiatives with up to 30 percent of the costs,” says Karol Stasik. Naturally, the City Council will decide on this. For now, it is only an idea.
