The gold medals in this year’s Team Championships of the “Karkonosze” Intercounty Sports Bridge Association in Lwówek Śląski were won by players from the second-league Prnjavor Bolesławiec. The team comprised Jarosław Molenda (captain), Jerzy Olenderek, Antoni Ochot and Artur Winkler.
Close behind them, with a small deficit, came the second Bolesławiec team, made up of players from the third-league Pogrom Bolesławiec. Pogrom played with Roland Lippik (captain), Zdzisław Patreuha, Ryszard Makuch and Sławomir Zimniak. The contest was fiercely fought, and only the final round determined the winner. It is worth noting that in the derby match, the gold medalists lost to their teammates 13–17. However, most importantly, after a one-year break, the title of MZBS “Karkonosze” Champions returned to Bolesławiec.
Our players also demonstrated their dominance in the Starosta of Lwówek tournament held the following day. The competition was won by the best pair of this season: Antoni Ochot and Artur Winkler. As many as five Bolesławiec pairs placed in the tournament’s top six! Tadeusz Kowalik and Krzysztof Grela finished third, while immediately behind them, with the same score, were Jarosław Molenda and Jerzy Olenderek, and Dorota Kwintkiewicz and Sławomir Zimniak.
According to still unofficial information, our players will occupy the top four places in the completed MZBS “Karkonosze” Grand Prix series. The winner is Artur Winkler, just ahead of Antoni Ochot. In third place, tied, are Jarosław Molenda and Jerzy Olenderek.
