The incident occurred late Saturday afternoon. One of the residents of the tenement building noticed smoke coming from the apartment on Kutuzowa Street as he was returning home. The firefighters who arrived at the scene evacuated ten people; two were taken to hospital by ambulance for observation.
After entering the apartment, the firefighters extinguished the flames and ventilated the stairwell. Initial findings indicate that the woman in whose apartment the fire broke out had lit the stove and left the house. The fire probably then spread to items lying next to the stove.
