A 22-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County was driving with his brother. It is not known why he did not stop before the pedestrian crossing, which was properly marked and clearly visible.
"At the time of the tragedy, the girl was returning from the store with her younger brother. She got him safely across the street—she did not make it herself," says Grzegorz Górski, press spokesperson for the Bolesławiec Police.
After the accident, the driver fled. The police began a pursuit. In Rakowice, the 22-year-old drove into a ditch. He was arrested. According to information obtained by the Boleslawiec.org service, there was no alcohol in his blood.
