Gromadka, like 400 other localities across the country, joined the nationwide “Polska biega” campaign. Girls and boys from the municipality competed in cross-country races over three distances in different age categories.
Children in grades I–III had to cover 300 meters. Students in grades IV–VI ran approximately 800 meters, while middle-school students had to run about 2.5 km. The running routes were laid out in woodland near the School Complex in Gromadka. Despite the foggy and windy day, the competition proved very popular.
Winners in the individual age categories:
Grades I–III
- Nikola Skrzypacz - SP Gromadka
- Denis Zawada - SP Gromadka
Grades IV–VI
- Aleksandra Gortych - SP Gromadka
- Wojciech Fila - SP Gromadka
Middle school
- Renata Woźna
- Karol Rozpędowski
The winners were honored with cups, and all competitors who reached the podium received certificates. It was not only the winners who were in high spirits. Above all, it was about having a good time, with sporting competition and the desire to win serving merely as additions.
Promoting the running trend was not the only attraction of the sporting Saturday in Gmina Gromadka. Girls from Gromadka and Bolesławiec played basketball. The Gromadka girls, coached by Piotr Matusiak, played well but had to acknowledge the superiority of the Bolesławiec basketball players, who had been playing together for longer, and ultimately lost 40:55. The highlight of the sporting excitement was a volleyball match between the third-division teams TOP Bolesławiec and IKAR Legnica. After an evenly matched game, TOP won 3:2.
The organizers of Saturday’s sporting events were the management and teachers of the School Complex in Gromadka, the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre, and Gmina Gromadka Head Dariusz Pawliszczy.
