Scholarships will be provided as part of regional scholarship assistance programs for exceptionally gifted students, particularly in mathematics, natural sciences and technical subjects, whose financial situation may adversely affect their educational development.

Schools will be able to apply for scholarships. To obtain financial assistance, a school must submit a student profile meeting the criteria established by the scholarship provider, such as an appropriate grade average and results in competitions or academic contests, as well as an educational program prepared by the teacher supervising the scholarship recipient, including an indication of the necessary expenses. Based on these applications, the students who will receive scholarships will be selected. However, the scholarship recipient’s family income per household member may not exceed the income threshold entitling the family to social assistance.

Scholarships will be awarded to lower- and upper-secondary school students for two years. For payments to continue in subsequent semesters, the scholarship recipient will have to meet the conditions set out in the educational program prepared by the teacher, such as achieving a specified grade average, placing at a certain level in an academic contest or obtaining a language certificate. The first payments from EU funding are scheduled for 2008. The monthly scholarship will amount to PLN 250.
