The university authorities, city and county officials, students and invited guests gathered in the Forum hall of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre for the ceremonial opening of the new academic year. Representing the university were, among others, Vice-Rector for Science Prof. Stanisław Nowosielski, Dean of the Faculty of Regional Economy and Tourism Prof. Ryszard Brol, and the Rector’s plenipotentiary for studies in Bolesławiec, Dr Waldemar Tyc.

In his speech, the Vice-Rector spoke about the university’s history, emphasised the importance of education in modern times and outlined the Academy’s development directions. At the end of his speech, Prof. Nowosielski ceremonially opened the new academic year and thanked the local government authorities of Bolesławiec for their cooperation to date. He also wished the students good luck and success in their studies.

On behalf of the authorities of the city and Bolesławiec County, a speech was delivered by Mayor Piotr Roman.

The final stage of the inauguration of the new academic year was the presentation of student record books to a group of first-year students and the awarding of diplomas to senior students for their good academic results.

Last year, the Academy of Economics celebrated the 35th anniversary of the launch of the Faculty of Regional Economy and Tourism in Jelenia Góra. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the university’s operation in our city. Nearly 400 students are currently studying at the Academy in Bolesławiec.
