Participants had to cover nine floors, 184 stairs, a 32 m elevation difference and a 30 m flat approach to the stairs. After running to the top floor of the high-rise, the competitor received a ceramic cup filled with liquid from the judge and had to deliver it to the finish line. They had to run down without spilling anything. Everything was precisely measured at the finish. For every milliliter of spilled liquid, competitors received additional penalty seconds, which were added to their race time.
