On Monday afternoon, a bus caught fire on Kościuszki Street. The bus, owned by KGHM S.A., was carrying company employees. Neither the bus driver nor the people on board knew that they were travelling in a vehicle whose engine was on fire. Only the driver of a passenger car travelling behind the bus noticed flames coming from beneath the rear hatch. The car driver overtook the bus and prompted its driver to stop. All the bus passengers managed to get off safely.
The burning rear of the bus was initially extinguished by drivers and employees of a nearby company. Later, residents of the surrounding houses joined them. The drivers used fire extinguishers to put out the burning bus, while nearby residents used buckets of water. In total, several people extinguished the burning vehicle. The fire service also arrived at the scene and put out the remaining flames. No one was injured in the incident. The bus driver suspects that the vehicle caught fire because a fuel line ruptured.
