To take part in the auditions, applicants must first be at least 14 years old. Secondly, obviously, they must know how to dance. "We are looking for young talents. Someone who likes dancing, is not afraid of challenges and can work with a group," says Katarzyna Tomczyk, a modern dance instructor who has officially been working with Canon since 2003, although her adventure with the team began in 2000. The team is particularly urgently looking for young dancers. Especially since, as Katarzyna Tomczyk admitted, a group featuring both girls and boys looks completely different on stage. It is also definitely easier to work with. The instructor hopes that physically fit boys will apply—boys whose personalities will "enrich our formation and diversify our choreography."
According to Katarzyna Tomczyk, learning modern dance is not difficult at all. "You have to want it and have that something within you," she says. "But training is important," she immediately adds. The auditions will be held on Saturday in the BOK mirror room at 2:00 p.m. Those who did not attend Monday's organisational meeting but would like to try their luck can ask for details next Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. in the mirror room.
For those who do not succeed on Saturday, we have good news. Bolesławiec Cultural Centre plans to organise workshops for children starting on 1 July. The workshops will last two weeks. Classes will be held every day. All this is intended for children who are not going anywhere for the holidays but would like to spend their time pleasantly. "Perhaps they will spend it enjoyably at BOK," the instructor says with a smile.
