Chlebowski began the meeting with Bolesławiec residents by providing a general overview of the political situation in the country. He criticized the ruling coalition, accusing it of dividing society. The residents of Bolesławiec had prepared many questions for the MP. The questions mainly concerned the general situation in the country and the policies pursued by Law and Justice. Chlebowski, as a representative of the opposition, focused on a critical assessment of the government.

The Civic Platform politician said that the economy is developing and will continue to develop because it is not dependent on the ruling coalition. During the meeting, the residents of Bolesławiec raised, among other issues, problems concerning taxes, an “emergency” economic development plan, agriculture, divisions within the post-Solidarity community, lustration and the “game” involving files, and foreign policy.

A question was also asked about the political future of Jan Maria Rokita and whether Civic Platform is more liberal or conservative. Chlebowski described Rokita as one of Poland’s most outstanding politicians, a great individualist and intellectual who sometimes “escapes” the rigid framework of party organization. At the same time, Chlebowski could not imagine Civic Platform ever being without Rokita. Asked what kind of party Civic Platform is, Chlebowski replied that there is “as much conservatism and liberalism as necessary” in the party: economically liberal, but conservative in its views on the individual and the family.
