Last weekend, the Polish Veterans’ Table Tennis Championships were held in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. More than 200 players from across Poland took part in the competition. TOP Bolesławiec was represented by two players, Remigiusz Kacperczyk and Zbigniew Kurasz. Remigiusz Kasperczyk—the Lower Silesian Champion—went to the national championships hoping to achieve a good result. However, he did not expect to have no equal in the over-70 category.
During two days of exhausting competition, the Bolesławiec resident defeated all his opponents and, for the first time in his long career, won the gold medal and the Polish Championship title. It should be emphasized that Remigiusz Kacperczyk lost only one set throughout the entire championship. He defeated players from Lublin, Kraków and Wrocław, as well as last year’s Polish champion, Bogusław Gorczyca from Warsaw.
Winning the Polish Championships is a great success for the TOP Bolesławiec representative. Mr. Remigiusz regularly takes part in club training sessions, defeating players more than 50 years younger than him who compete in the third league. The European Championships will be held in Rotterdam at the end of June. Polish Champion Remigiusz Kacperczyk announces that he will compete for a medal in the Netherlands.
