On Sunday, May 31, the Polish Mixed Relay Championships in the U18, U20 and U23 categories were held in Piaseczno. Among the country’s best athletics relay teams was the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy Bolesłavia.

The Bolesławiec club was represented by: Kacper Zefirian, Paulina Bobowska, Wiktor Kijowski and Vanessa Michaluk. The team also included reserve athletes: Emilia Burmas and Jakub Foremny.

For MKS Bolesłavia, this was a special performance. For the first time in its history, the club competed in the 4×100 m mixed relay. Its debut in this event immediately ended with a result that will be recorded in the club’s history in golden letters.

Bolesłavia’s relay team was placed in the second heat and ran in the fourth lane. The competition was very strong, with KS Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski among the opponents. After the first heat, SKRA Warszawa led with a time of 44.74 s. The Bolesławiec athletes therefore knew that if they wanted to fight for the top spot, they had to run boldly, cleanly and all the way to the finish.

And that is exactly how they ran.

Kacper Zefirian, Paulina Bobowska, Wiktor Kijowski and Vanessa Michaluk won their heat. After a moment, however, it turned out that their result was identical to SKRA Warszawa’s when measured to hundredths of a second. The Polish championship had to be decided by a more precise measurement, to thousandths of a second.

Those seconds of waiting contained everything that is most beautiful in sport: tension, uncertainty and emotions that are difficult to describe in a single sentence. The event commentator, Michał Chmielewski, added to the drama by drawing attention to Vanessa Michaluk’s finish. After a brief pause, the information the entire team had been waiting for was announced: Bolesłavia’s lead over SKRA Warszawa had held.

The official results confirmed the historic success. MKS Bolesłavia won the gold medal and the title of Polish U20 champion in the 4×100 m mixed relay, winning by just 0.002 seconds.

Final U20 standings, 4×100 m mixed relay

  1. MKS Bolesłavia – 44.733 s
  2. SKRA Warszawa – 44.735 s
  3. KS Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski – 45.08 s

This victory is more than just another medal. It is proof of excellent preparation, sporting character and resilience under pressure. In an event where every step, every exchange and every fraction of a second count, the MKS Bolesłavia athletes showed the maturity worthy of Polish champions.

Congratulations go to the entire team: Kacper Zefirian, Paulina Bobowska, Wiktor Kijowski, Vanessa Michaluk, as well as Emilia Burmas and Jakub Foremny, together with the coaches leading the team.

MKS Bolesłavia returns from Piaseczno with a gold medal, the Polish U20 championship title and a story that will be remembered at the club for years to come. Every club dreams of a debut like this.
