After reading the article about the condition of the road on Żołnierzy Wyklętych Street and the reaction of our esteemed officials promising to improve the road, I will also try to write. Several neighbors and I live in single-family homes along a short section of Widok Street, from the turnoff from the main road by the “Widok” wholesaler to the tunnel connecting the urban municipality with Bolesławiec municipality. It is a stretch of a terribly damaged, gravel-covered road, just like the street discussed in the earlier article.

The potholes on this street are beyond description. Even with slight rainfall, a river of water flows from the main asphalt road down to us, carved out over the years by the unrepaired road. (It may have been topped up twice to fill the potholes, but after a few days and heavier downpours, everything was washed away.) I would like to add that I have lived on this street for less than two years, and I have already had to replace my car’s suspension twice, because several times a day I have to drive to my son’s school and kindergarten on the other side of the city.

When driving along this stretch of road, everything rattles terribly; the children do not even have anywhere to ride their bicycles. When droughts come and the weather is beautiful, without a drop of rain, terrible dust rises from the street, so that laundry hanging outside needs to be washed again, not to mention the children’s garden toys. There is no chance of sitting in the garden and having a coffee, because everything is gray with dust; the windows have to be wiped every day, because nothing can be seen through them—but apparently no one at the municipal office cares.

I do not understand one thing: why does one house belonging to Bolesławiec municipality, beyond the tunnel toward the poultry farm, have new asphalt, while we, city residents who pay taxes, cannot obtain a decent access road? Why do the residents of the Kwiatowe housing estate have new roads, in some places even paved with concrete blocks? […] A request to the mayor to repair the road surface has been submitted MANY TIMES, but the answer is always the same: there is no money. If someone important from the city office or municipality lived on this street, I suspect the money would be found so they would not have to damage their shoes or cars.

As we have established, this road will be renovated. The task is currently being designed. Work will probably begin next year.

We will return to this subject.
