It turns out that it is possible – the European Youth Forum makes it happen. In September, students of Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec went to the “EuroWeek – School of Leaders” training camp in Długopole Dolne in the Kłodzko Region.

The workshops were organized by the European Youth Forum and co-financed by the European Union. The EuroWeek program is a special educational camp enabling young people to become actively involved in the life of the democratic society of today’s Europe. The sessions were conducted as interactive workshops, simulation games and practical exercises by EFM trainers: volunteers from India, the Philippines, Mexico, Guatemala, Belarus and Lithuania.

The students from “Jedynka” received training in the following areas: press conference, leadership (leading), teamwork and group motivation, conducting negotiations, self-presentation, debate, roles in a group, culture shock and group discussion.

In addition to developing these social skills, the students had the opportunity to take part in many interesting presentations about the countries the trainers came from. The workshops and presentations were held in English, allowing the students to improve their language skills.

Thanks to their daily contact with the volunteers, the students were able to overcome the language barrier and develop their communication skills. There were also daily discos and karaoke, which brought each day to a close and enjoyed enormous popularity.

The five-day trip also included sightseeing excursions to Bystrzyca Kłodzka, Kłodzko and Długopole-Zdrój. The children had the opportunity to visit the Matchstick Museum, admire the historic landmarks of the towns they visited and taste medicinal water in the Zdrojowy Park.

At the end, each participant received a certificate confirming their participation in the training. The stay in Długopole Dolne in the Kłodzko Region was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the sixth-grade teachers: Katarzyna Kazanowska, Joanna Gęsikowska, Magdalena Kujawiakowska, and Danuta Musialik, the religion teacher.
